Great subject. Thanks Rosemary!

I found that this subject was a really good intro to law. If you've done VCE Legal Studies, you will probs breeze through the first few weeks. However, don't adhere to the mindset of the subject being an 'easy H1'. This subject may be low on contact hours but it does require some consistent effort to do well. Go to lectures (Rosemary is an engaging lecturer and summarises key concepts really well!), do your readings, complete the practise tests and go over content consistently and you'll be all g :)

This was a great introduction to law. Do the practice tests, they're pretty useful. However, don't expect the actual tests or exam to be so simple, they are just a guide to let you know which areas you need to be revising. Stay on top of the readings and go to the lectures too, if you do that it's an easy H1

Clear understanding from both lecture slides and textbook as a resource are important to have a firm grasp in this subject. Make sure you attend the workshops provided as it helps you to enhance your study. This is not a hard subject but you need to demonstrate a clear grasp for each chapters to get a high marks.

Pretty boring subject, but law always is. 2 Hour lectures are painful and its easier just to read chapters in book and lecture slides. With that said its an easy WAM booster if you actually put effort into studying it and is easily passable with absolutely minimum effort.

I regretted for underestimating the time and effort I needed to put into this subject and ended up rushing through the content nearing the exam. That being said, I still did okay in this subject, but it would’ve been more enjoyable if I worked consistently on it throughout the semester. Be consistent and be on top of things and you’ll do well in this subject. :)

I found the subject to be quite intuitive and surprisingly not too dry. Sure, there are times when you will have to memorise things (but even then, you can put it on the cheat sheet) but generally, I thought the lecturer did a great job of using case studies to make the concepts we were being taught very clear. The textbook is also really useful, although the online tutorials are usually beyond the scope of the subject. Definitely worth taking but I would advise anyone doing it to approach the subject like you would any other, i.e, don't go into it thinking that it is going to be a free H1, be willing to do the readings, and keep up to date with the lectures.

I hate law but this subject isn't too bad. The lecturer was quite clear although a bit boring and had an odd habit of chuckling. This subject was very managable, both in regards to the amount of effort and time needed.

Anonymous, Semester 1, 2018

Took it as a breath. The stories you hear in lectures are interesting but other than that its pretty boring.

Anonymous, Semester 1, 2017

Was told this was an easy WAM boost. While I found it incredibly useful for understanding Aus government, I found the multiple question format really difficult and just scraped an H2A.
