Reviews and tips for BLAW10001

Great breadth subject. Interesting content and not too difficult.

Anonymous, Semester 1, 2016

Not as easy as people say the subject is. You need to keep up with the examinable cases every week because there are just too many to catch up on if you fall behind.

The content isn't too hard but since there are no tutes, if you don't keep up to date you'll struggle a little bit. Assessments are all multiple choice which is great

PERFECT if you are looking for an easy breadth. It's important that you read ALL of the required readings posted on LMS. ALL.OF.IT. There are questions on the exam that are going to be pretty hard to answer if you haven't read the book properly and if you don't understand it. Workshops are a waste of time, don't bother going, if you have a question, just email it to Tim (PBL tutor) and he gives pretty clear answers quickly. Exam is 60 questions, all MC, and you have 90 min to do that in. A lot of the questions have a fair amount of reading so you do have to work through the questions fairly quickly. Don't bother learning details of case studies, just learn the main facts, the judgement that was given and what concept it illustrated (was it an example of breach of condition, specific performance, duress etc.). etutorials basically consist of slabs of text from the textbook followed by easy questions. The questions on the etutorials and the practise exam are easier than the real exam. Not a conceptually difficult subject, more of a memorisation subject.

Great, if your looking for an easy breadth subject. Make sure you keep on top of readings and score well in the tests because they are each worth 10%. The exam was all multiple choice 1.5 hours with a cheat sheet and wasn't very hard. Only 2 contact hours a week, would definitely recommend if your looking for an easy breadth.
