Reviews

Much of the course revolves around understanding of the time value of money, There is now a heavy focus on teaching the time value of money in the opening weeks so those who stay organised from the start are generally rewarded with higher marks right throughout until the final exam. Weekly online quizzes help to understand weaknesses without a huge impact on marks or a large time burden. Very well structured course which flows from week 1-13.

A great unit to start a commerce degree. The content can be difficult for some, however the weekly quizzes helps students improve by testing their knowledge on weekly content that was studied the prior week.

Anonymous, Semester 1, 2018

Not a hard unit, people say it is but the challenging bit it Time Value of Money, get your head around this concept and the simple maths behind it, and you'll be fine. The rest of the unit is simply applications of these concepts.

Anonymous, Semester 1, 2016

This was definitely my favorite subject this semester. It was very well-structured and put-together - the unit convenor, Narelle, clearly cares a lot about her students and wants them to succeed. While the content can be challenging, every week we were provided with a large amount of learning and study material (such as optional online quizzes) that made learning the material way easier and more enjoyable. The content was also pretty interesting if you have any interest in finance.

Great subject!

Anonymous, Semester 2, 2017

Basic finance topics on time value of money, bond and equity pricing. Very focus on math so you need to practice (tut questions) if you want to do well.
