Reviews

I took this unit because it seemed interesting. Coming from a non economics/environmental science major, I find this unit relatively easy. Most of the content are straightforward, simple, and logically based. There are some calculations and graphs but I find them really simple too. Lectures were not particularly helpful but tutorials were. The teaching team only had three people and they all are nice and very approachable when I needed help. Structure of this unit consists of a report (30%) It is very straightforward as it is research based and I find the marking not as harsh as other units with a report and they also gave a very detailed feedback. Another assessment is the three online quizzes (15%). There is a non-accessed practice quiz every week and some of the questions in the actual quizzes are from there, otherwise 80% of them are simple questions found in lecture notes. The final exam (50%) was really easy, 20 MCQ and 1 essay that is randomised for every student. The final 10% is from participation which is also very easy to get. Highly recommended.

Online learning really ruined this unit. Exam was so unfair because questions were different for every student. Tutorials suddenly stopped for weeks (not even online tutorials). I just don't know what else to say aside from the teaching team are nice people. Hopefully, they can really improve online learning environment for the next semester as this unit has so much potential. I took it as a broadening because it seemed interesting and it definitely was, but the teaching team was definitely not prepared for COVID-19.
