Having a good understanding of theoretical maths will help to some extent. Understanding graphs and equations is a must, and it is more difficult than the micro 1 subject. Classes are more interesting though.

Course is significantly a lot harder than Micro 1 and not taught as well. However, if you put in the time for it, you can still get a good mark.

Difficult in terms of math. Need to know the theory and math to do well. However, if you spend a lot of time understanding keysian theory (graphs & equation), it shouldn't be too bad

Unstructured and lecturers are incompetent requiring you to read the entire textbook to understand anything. The lecture slides do not help and the tutorial problems are not helpful at all as they are basic and limited.

Anonymous, Semester 2, 2017

Seems slightly jumbled up. As if they are half way through transitioning it into a decent course. Midsems were shit but other parts were fine

Very practical but mathematical. Exam is all MCQ but so def practice weekly online quizzes.

Only reason the subject earns 3 stars is because of the content. Extremely interesting concepts are taught in the course. If you did HSC Economics you will love it, as it is basically a massive extension of the year 12 syllabus, giving you a deeper look at some of the things you just touch the surface of in year 12. Unfortunately, the course structure does not meet the same standards as the content. I found most tutorials to be useless, half the tutorial Qs set did not match the content taught that week during the lectures. Final exam was far too long, whilst the online practice quizzes provided had half their answers incorrect.

One of those hit or miss courses, like I personally still got a HD, but from what I've been told around 20% of the cohort failed. Also it was poorly structured in my opinion, as we had tutorial hand ins and some tutors marked way easier than mine, which was quite unfair!

I had heard that the course during the semester was badly structured - however, I decided I would take it in summer school and found that it was better than the microeconomics course I did during semester 1. Macroeconomics shouldn't necessarily be difficult, however, the way they structured the course during the academic year could use some improvements as I found myself constantly confused when learning concepts. I relied heavily on the textbook, but found the exam extremely hard. During the summer semester however, the course was better structured and eventually I attained a distinction as I was able to understand the course better.
