Awesome presentation of programming to complete beginners! Learning to code was both challenging and rewarding, and the content was organised in an easily-digestible manner!

Anonymous, Semester 1, 2022

Coming into the subject with no knowledge on coding, it was somewhat of a steep learning curve to learn R. But it's really enjoyable and you will be able to figure out how to work around issues for your assignments if you just play around with the code. Andy also made it very easy to understand and was extremely supportive if something unexpected pops up. Learning material is straightforward, and tutes are definitely helpful in consolidating your knowledge. 100% one of the best psych subjects.

really easy subject to do well in like i averaged H1 until the exam happened (which was my fault) but andy is an amazing lecturer and he really makes sure everyone understands how stats work before our assignments.

Anonymous, Semester 1, 2023

Definitely a tough subject if you're not a fan of stats (as most of psych students) but Andy is so wonderfully competent that at the end of this subject, you will either be in love with stats or starting to fall in love with it. Conquer stats my brethren!

This subject was amazing, Andy is the best lecturer I have ever had, he made coding and statistics feel so much more manageable. His incorporation of a story into all the lectures, assignments, tutes and even the exam made this subject much more enjoyable and actually motivated me to watch the lectures and go to class because I wanted to know what happened next. The assignments were challenging but doable and the exam was the same, I ended up with an 80 overall and I would 100% take this subject again.

Could not rate this higher !!! By far my favourite psychology subject. First subject in coding but so manageable and actually fun with Andy teaching - by far the best lecturer I've had. He makes learning so fun by having the lecture and tute content go through stories in Bunnyland (following characters of his kids' toys) and also is just a super engaging professor. Also love how supportive he is in our learning & us in general - have genuinely cried a few times at some of his lovely announcements/emails. Having Andy as a professor is truly such a privilege, I'm going to miss this subject and I would honestly recommend this to anyone :)

Andy is an amazing lecturer and makes this subject manageable and dare I say enjoyable!? The assignments make up 70% of the grade and if you chip away at them early and keep up to date with lectures you will be fine. Sometimes I found that my tutor was a little bit harsh in marking, but I still ended up with a 91 for this subject. Exam was easy too and we were allowed an A4 cheat-sheet. Geoff's content is a bit hard in terms of lectures but much easier in the exam. Good luck!

Andy is the best lecturer!! defs made the subject as great as it was

Andy Perfors is by far the best stats lecturer you will ever have in your life. I took this subject the first year that they ran it as coordinator and it was amazing (even though I hate stats). I can only imagine how much better the subject has gotten now that Andy has had more experience running it under his belt. Andy's passion for all things stats and R-studio is seriously contagious; I exclusively use R-studio for anything stats related now

Andy was phenomenal and deserving of all praise that goes his way! This was such a complicated subject, but it was taught in a way that made you feel safe to learn and make mistakes. The first lecture was Andy having a semi-breakdown about garlic cloves, and you could feel the collective sigh of the lecture theatre as we all knew Andy could understand our own anxieties of statistics. I did this subject in 2020 when Covid hit, and Andy supported us through that time. The Bunnyland plot was fun and engaging, and made the scary stats seem less daunting. I said it before and I'll say it again, Andy deserves the world for the way he taught the subject and brought sunshine to every class !
