Reviews

Great lecturers, great administration. What more can I say, one of my favourite subjects at University. Make sure you do all the practice questions well as they are a fair indicator of the finals.

Anonymous, Semester 1, 2019

A challenging but reasonable subject with interesting topics, amazing lecturers (especially Stefan Bode) and fair assessments. Majority of the subject was well organised but some parts were rather dry.

Anonymous, Semester 1, 2019

The lectures delivered by Professor Stefan Bode were absolutely interesting. But other lectures especially those topics on neurotransmitters were poorly organised and delivered, the tutorials were neither useful nor fun, (not to mention the tutor was late every time). Not a bad option if you enjoy biology and psychology, but not as satisfied as I expected.

Definitely content overload but the assessments are fair. Lectures are interesting and well organised except for Patrick's section.

Really good subject. Adequate difficulty level while have lots of interesting contents.

Anonymous, Semester 1, 2019

The subject is very rewarding. All the lecturers are amazing, especially Stefan, who made the content on TMS, EEG, and MRI so interesting to learn. To be honest, I was really afraid of these rather very technical contents, but the way he delivers the content was so great that I was not only not afraid anymore, but always so excited to come to lecture. The other contents are definitely very challenging to learn. But once you get a grasp of it, you’ll find that you learn many new things, and it’s all very interesting and relevant to a psych major. I won’t recommend this subject as a breath, unless you love the brain and want to know more about it. For psych major, who has to to it because this is your core, please approach it with a open mind, and please go to the lecture; the content will surprise you.

Good introduction to the biological bases of psychological processes.

Anonymous, Semester 1, 2018

Awesome subject to choose if you're interested in the area of junction between neuroscience & psychology (like me!). Even for those without a neuroscience background, it should be an easy subject and the tutorials definitely help you through the big assignment (the report writing). It was not only interesting but also a great WAM booster, because the exam was so EASY!!

Anonymous, Semester 1, 2018

Very interesting but challenging! Content is dense, Piers Howe is incredible as is Olivia Carter. Students will enjoy the variety of this subject but you really need to stay with all the subject material to be able to do well in the exam.

Anonymous, Semester 1, 2016

I was a bit scared about bio psych as it seemed too sciencey for me. However, it was well coordinated and well taught. Bode made the stats and brain imaging content more easy to understand and Carter's lectures on chemicals in the brain were really fascinating
