Reviews

This unit features a lot of abstract concepts that aren't as engaging or exciting as the concepts covered in other units such as Developmental Psychology or Social & Personality Psychology. However, if you can get past the bland material, it is relatively easy to excel in this subject. The unit convenor writes a very specific sort of question so take note of the weekly questions she posts and the style of her writing in the mid-semester exam, as it is exactly the same as the final exam. Also, don't fret about the short answer and essay questions. If you know the content, you'll be fine!

The content is really heavy. You really want to try and keep up! I attended the pal sessions almost every week and tried for all the assessments and just received a 70. The pal session were my saviour as I found that the content can be overwhelming but when it gets broken down I personally found it interesting.

The content was interesting but having to remember so many theories and experiments was really challenging, especially when it came to studying for the final exam. The tutorials were fun (you just did an experiment you learned about in the lecture and discussed it), and I also liked how we didn't have too many assessments (although this did mean the final exam was worth 60%). Preparing for the final exam was a bit tricky as there are no past or practice exams. I stopped doing the readings after Week 3 and I don't think it really affected me. The readings are good if you are confused about the content as it explains it in a different way to the lecture, but they definitely aren't necessary.

the content was really boring and hard, if you really don't have to do this subject you should avoid it at all costs. they dont post tutorial slides, readings aren't specified and theres a lot of readings. no practice papers are provided - two practice multiple choice questions are posted on ilearn each week but they are really easy to answer but when you get into the exam the questions are significantly harder. absolutely hated this subject

This is a great unit that is taught very directly and is easy to understand. They give you every chance to succeed if you listen and do their quizzes, etc. Just takes continual effort with this subject so don't leave it to last minute!

I was pretty relieved I passed this subject - some of the concepts were so hard and confusing but some of it was pretty interesting. The mid semester test really shows you how your doing - multiple choice but with 1 minute each question, it was very difficult! stay up to date and really try and understand the concepts in depth as the exams really test understanding by asking complicated scenarios and picking "the most correct" haha

I really enjoyed this unit! I already had a good background in most of the concepts from doing some COGS units, but I still found all the models and concepts really interesting. With that background knowledge, a distinction was pretty easy. It's a lot of content to learn from scratch, though.

The lecturer did her best to try and explain the content but it does get confusing and messy from time to time. I personally have an interest in this area and found the content not too bad. A bit difficult but if you study hard results will come.

The mid sem exam was extremely confusing and was somewhat harder than the final exam. The content was interesting but if you're not regularly studying the content will become difficult to understand.
