Course is pretty well organised. Workshops give a really good indication of what is examined. Lectures are worth going to only if you haven’t done high school Chemistry.

First 6 weeks were great. Lecturer was great at making the content interesting. Last 6 weeks were a struggle to get through. Explanations were difficult to follow, and the lack of workshops made retention of the more difficult concepts really difficult. (Both lecturers were fantastic when asked for help individually, and both very passionate about their chemistry.)

The end of semester exam is the same as the practice exam. Quizzes are identical to workshop questions.

The workshops were integral to my understanding of the content of the course. The tutors and lecturers are very friendly and approachable, and this course was very well taught.

The workshop questions are a great guide of what you really need to be able to do. The lecturers are all great and really approachable.

First year Chemistry was overall successful. I enjoyed how the lecturers and tutors never assume knowledge and are always willing to help out. Everything you need to know is well taught and the labs directly related to the content :)

The first year chemistry staff always do their very best at making sure that students can easily pass, i.e. lots of extra tutes, worked problems, practice exams etc. Use these extras to your advantage, it really pays off.
