Reviews

Did ACCT1001 in summer school 2019 and nearly passed away. Would definitely not recommend doing this in summer school, lecturers and tutors were so confusing and with only 3.5 weeks to learn the content we ended up self teaching from the book. Soul crushing.

Unit is quite boring, however, concepts are very easy to grasp if you read the book and ask tutor questions. If you studied accounting ATAR, this unit will be easy as its just a refresh with a few more additional concepts which aren't hard to pick up. Had a few friends who had no prior accounting knowledge and struggled a bit. Easy HD if you commit. Don't bother going to sleep-inducing lectures, I just read the book/did practice questions and still managed to get an HD.

Despite the content being very dry/uninteresting it is reasonably easy to keep up with and understand. Doing all the tute questions and mock paper will easily allow you to do well in the final exam as all questions are fairly similar. Make sure you get a good group for the assignment and start it early as it is very time consuming.

Anonymous, Semester 2, 2018

This unit was informative but also an easy unit to get a good mark. If you kept up with the work each week, making sure you understood the content, then the exam will not scare you.

MAKE sure you keep on top of things and understand the content each week. It is hard to cram this course. If you do so, and ask questions when you don't understand something, it should be a deserved HD. Leo is also a great help too. There are lots of people who can help you out with this course as well.

I have never been good with numbers, but this unit was so well taught by Leo I managed a solid D! Best advice would be to just practice practice practice!

Anonymous, Semester 2, 2017

Taught really well. An easy HD if you keep up with the work.

Anonymous, Semester 2, 2017

Very interesting unit and if you follow the lectures you can get an easy HD

This is meant to be an easy course, find a good team that you can work with and sign up with them for the VBE assignment, for final exam doing some practices and basically understanding the different types of statements would be sufficient. They are quite picky on small details, like the order of things you list in a cash flow statement, practice helps with that

Anonymous, Semester 1, 2017

It is an easy/ manageable unit if you did Accounting in HS but if not, you may find it a bit challenging. A lot of theory to memorise and tbh a bit boring at times. Leo is an amazing lecturer and Alex is a tutor that is willing to help at all times.
