The only theories taught are his own, and every assigned reading is written by him. He posits his own simplistic, hackneyed framework as the only viable method for crafting advertisements. In reality, it is excessively constrictive and inflexible, belying his lack of talent for genuine creativity. Be warned that if you choose to do this unit, you must immerse yourself in the role of the sycophant if you aim to do well. Great course if you're really interested in Advertising. The lecturer Jo was knowledgable and covered a lot of content including how to put together a Creative Brief, coming up ideas, copywriting, art direction and how to pitch. We worked on real clients including Nicorette, Whiteglo toothpaste, Wayward Brewing and RSVP dating. Our brand Helium was a new launch by RSVP. All the clients came in to brief in the projects and were in the judging panels for the competitive pitches. We were put into teams and formed Advertising agencies that pitched against each other for the clients business. My Dad even read the textbook.
