Interesting subject but good fucking god assignment 2 and the final exam were hard as fuck

You are very much on your own in this subject. They don't give practice problems for the exam. People have no idea what to expect. The tutorial questions are convoluted based on excel data and not a good practice for the finals. Marking is very slow so you don't get much feedback. Lecturers change (we had Guanglian and Pramod), so best to ignore ratings below based on lecturers.

Danika is a really good lecturer. She breaks up the lectures into digestible parts so you're not listening to 3 hours of monotony. The assignments are challenging but rewarding and all the content is heaps interesting if you enjoy finance and looking at financial markets. I would say you can get by in this subject without doing too much study as long as you understand the content, keep up with the lectures and stay ontop of assignments. Pretty good subject overall. In comparison to corp 1 and corp 2 its not a very big jump, so if you want to knock this subject out in your second year its very do able.

If you want to nicely consolidate all your finance knowledge with a very practical emphasis on portfolio analysis, take this unit. Structure is very clear and flows nicely. The lecturer was very professional and competent. Only major drawback is the low quality of the assignments. They hold almost no correlation with the lecture content and their feedback was ambiguous.

Andrew is one of the most inspiring lecturers at USYD - the course and teaching staff are incredible. One of my favorite finance subjects.
