Reviews
I could not agree more with the other 1-star review. Bar the odd interesting text, this course was entirely reliant on suffocating leftist propaganda and pretentious insight. Class discussion was painful. Certainly not worth watching lectures or reading non-assignment texts in full. The only good thing about this unit is its tasks, which let you hyper-focus on 3 textx of your choosing in the form of 2 fun reflections and a chunky final essay on anything you please.

terrible unit. Great Books (FASS2200) I actually ended up enjoying but this is such rubbish that the description in the handbook didn't even apply (at least to the iteration of the course that I took) - it's like it is describing a different class. Lots of woke crap (Beloved/White Girl week and the gender week biggest guilty parties). Co-ordinator goes on about 'activism' - the course seems to be more about creating and pandering to 'activists' than actually learning anything which is super frustrating. Unlike Great Books though you only need to read three of the set texts (in order to use one on each assignment - unfortunately I wasn't aware of this and did all the readings during the July holiday, taking many totally unnecessary notes), and the lectures are not at all necessary (my advice would actually be to skip the lectures and use the time to get the assignments out of the way).

Lectures were boring as hell but the tutorials were great. Only really have to read and write on three readings to pass the course.
