Reviews

This subject continues on from Russian 4 and has a very similar structure. Each week consisted of two 2-hour sessions broken up into four 1-hour blocks that looked at Russian culture/history (19th century, usually reading and then discussing a text), conversation practice, grammar exercises (both based on the Khavronina textbook), and literature (reading and analysing excerpts from Tolstoy's "Anna Karenina" in Russian). There was a lot of content to go over during the class which meant we often ran out of time, especially in the grammar/conversation sections. This subject was really interesting in terms of the culture/history component, as you get to learn a lot about the 19th century through both reading Anna Karenina and the separate history classes. Both Natasha and Natallia are fantastic tutors and were very chill if you had any issues/problems, being always happy to help out with extra materials/one-on-one meetings if you needed them.
