This is the undergrad epistemology class. Epistemology is the study of how we come to/how we should come to know things. This is a really interesting class! I really enjoyed it, even if people didn’t usually come to the lectures in person (bit of a shame). We covered the gettier problem, foundationalism, coherentism, reliabilism, scepticism, contextualism, a priori and a posteriori, naturalism, truth, internal realism and the role of intuition in epistemology. (you can just look these things up if you want to know more). The main tension of the first part of the class I found interesting is whether some things are foundational beliefs, which inform all other beliefs (foundationalism), or if all beliefs rely on other beliefs and there are no foundational beliefs (contexualism). Also there’s this one really funny experiment where the lecturer puts there hand up and says ‘I know that I have a hand, cause here’s my hand’ philosophy is kind of silly like that lol.

Incredible subject, extremely engaging lectures (Howard is amazing)! Felt a little bit in the dark about the assignments though. That being said, still a great subject and perfect if you like 20th century "analytic" philosophy.
