whenever Professor Jon Barnett does the lecture, i will instantly fall asleep 10 minutes in. He mumbles a lot and talks really quickly. This is quite a challenge as the assignments will heavily rely on the subject's contents. The various case studies are interesting to be delved into, but if you want clear structure within the class, this is not the best subject to get into. doing the readings are essential as you need to do weekly reflection (only 100 words each week) and presentation, which does help to force you into engaging with the contents of the subject.

I did not really enjoy this subject as much as the reviews implied. Instead of opting for a main idea, this subject discusses some loosely connected topics under the name "environmental politics and management". While a handful were interesting, it lacked any real theoretical framework making assessments broad, and, in my opinion, difficult to write about. You would be penalised for not talking about the subject's content even though it was mostly just case studies which are harder to integrate than you would think. Although there were some interesting topics discussed, most of the course was a bit boring. Most notably were the tutorials where you just sat through watching people do presentations on the readings. Oh yeah, the readings. These are even more dull the content and they're not optional as you have to do reflections on them. I guess this is a useful filler subject if that's what you want, but just lower your expectations a bit.

Fantastic subject. The content was really engaging, and the lecturers and tutors were extremely passionate. The guest lecturers were very knowledgeable and came from a great variety of areas. Elena was amazing and I loved her tutorials and lectures. As someone who hadn't studied this area at all before, I thought it was a great introduction. 10/10 subject, I wish I could do it again.

This is one of the best subjects I have studied at uni so far, the content is fascinating and the lecturer is engaging and clearly passionate about her work. Assignments were well explained and feedback was helpful. Although there is quite a bit of reading to do, I would highly recommend this subject.
