Score- 83 (H1) I did this subject as an anatomy major as an elective subject and it’s a good subject. It is easy to get a H1 but hard to get high H1 so idk if I would call it a wam booster. Most of the content is common sense with extra bits of theory. Chris is super enthusiastic . It’s 2 hour weekly lecture and it’s not content heavy at all, they love to blab about their own research. The practicals are super chill, sometimes you go for a walk around the city, sometimes you do a worksheet. The field trip isn’t actually a field trip, you just go to random places around the city not far from uni. No attendance is taken for the practicals, but I do encourage you to show up because you can ask questions about the assessment during this time. You also do practicals worksheets that help you with final assessment especially in week 10. Essay - The first assessment is an essay it’s actually easy the hardest part is probably finding the resources. DO NOT PUT THIS OFF, start as early as you can it initially seems really easy but it takes a while to find primary sources because some will mention a few variable and not other variable Ask as many question as you can to Chris he will happily answer all of them. The criteria for this essay was very vague so I just kept asking questions if I wasn’t sure. With the table make sure to be specific (not writing random pieces of information like species genus but more so does how your info in the table relate to cooling, if it doesn’t get rid of it). Make sure your table is clean and neat don’t put tons of info in it. The variables have to be very very very precise. When it says magnitude of cooling benefit, is at night during winter or summer and STATE IT and make sure your data is consistent as possible with your variables. It’s due after mid semester break so you get time to work on it. I got a H2A for this assessment because I had not done a critical analysis before. Make sure you paragraph talk about each variable IN ISOLATION. If you overthinking it, just ask him all your concerns and questions he is always happy to answer them. Also if your not happy with you mark, schedule a meeting with chris and talk about the assessment, it may or may not increase your mark, it did for me. Test - This is 48 MCQ in week 12 with content from W1-11. It is in person on paper. It so easy, you need to get the main idea from each lecture. This heavily carried my grade, and you wanna do well in this assessment to boost your marks as much as possible. Just make your own practice questions and memorise the lecture notes and the practical notes. Please go over the practical notes because he write some question based off the practical. The questions are super easy you don’t need to memorise the statics or research at all. You do it during practical class in week 12 its so informal you sit with you friends, and I’m pretty sure everyone cheated off each other. Final report - start this and plan it as early as you can especially if you have a lot of other exams to study for. I highly recommend sitting down with chris privately and asking him to break down the rubric in detail and what he needs in order to get full marks for each section. It very different from the critical analysis and its like a scientific report with an intro results method discussion etc. you need to stratify according to LGA. Randomly select one suburbs from each LGA. It’s a correlation analysis with typical scientific report format. Compare your results with literature and dive deep into the analysis. What did other literature find and why might your results be different. I scored really high for this. It does require a bit of but he doesn’t mark it super hard especially if you put in effort.
