If you really study, understand concepts, and make good notes of lectures/tutorials, finals and the assignments can be done quite well. Even though you are not confident with your math skills, it won't be hard as long as you understand how the formulas work. Always prioritize your lectures and tutorials, no outside sources needed.

This was the bane of my existence. I didn't think I could ever experience misery like this. lectures were all 2 hours which were long and dry. Concepts were super difficult to grasp but I also failed methods so guess it makes sense. The final exam was not similar to the practices in ANY shape or form, really hoping there's some scaling this sem or else I'll have to be back in the summer. In all honestly, just don't fall behind and make sure to really understand the concepts because that exam twisted formulas left right centre to test your understanding.

The worst breadth (science student) I took and I have major regrets. Lectures are 2hrs and just long and boring. Pick something else cause this ain't it.

This is a difficult subject period. The lectures are long and tiresome and it's just not a vibe. But when you do get the concepts it's pretty rewarding I guess.

I can't say this clearly enough it isnt a math subject!!! It's different It can be abstract at times and a lil weird (hence 20% fail rate) but also there's plenty of opportunity do well (30% H1 rate). Very useful and overs bare basics of corp finance and financial "math"

Really hard to keep up with especially if you're not mathematically inclined. I found the lectures so boring and could barely pay attention. The lecturer, Asjeet, did try to make the lectures a bit more engaging, but it was still quite boring. If it wasn't a compulsory subject for the BComm, I wouldn't have taken it. The exam was also quite difficult (especially being all online this semester), despite the other assignments being bearable.

Particularly enjoyed this subject as a breadth, gives an introductory course to finance and covers topic ranging from financial mathematics to portfolio theory and CAPM. Well-managed, tutorials are engaging and gives enough practice to prepare you for assessments.

Would highly recommend taking this in Semester 1 if you are going to do it (I have generally heard not so great things from students who have done it in Sem 2, because the lecturer is different). The course provides a general insight to principles of finance which will be expanded upon in future finance subjects, and the content is generally palatable assuming you take the time and attention to understand the material during tutes and doing weekly tutorials. Apart from this not a whole lot of work is required, and it was something which I worried less about during my semester.

The course provided a broad step into the world of finance. The content was interesting but could be better explained by the lecturer. In addition, the tutorials were rushed but useful. If I had to give advice to any future student(s), it would be to place emphasis on understanding and attend the tutorials. If you're struggling, don't hesitate to go in during consultation hours or find a tutor.

Couldn't understand most of the lectures, told someone that I might fail right before the exam, but still ended up with a H1 (99 + a bit of sweet cash) after losing marks on every piece of assessment since the exam was very easy and scaled up by 15 marks. 10/10
