Reviews

I will start off by saying- do not do this subject if you don't like food. You are here to learn about the concepts behind food and culture, the why and how of talking about food. You will not be able to critically engage with it if you do not love food. This is an intensive, its not an easy mark so don't pick it as a bludge subject, its not!! If you get Liam as your tutor you have lucked in! He will be able to teach you are the philosophy behind the scenes that the regular content does not give you, he has the important concepts - his words are gold! write them down guys! Do this subject if you love food, want to make friends and spend two weeks of summer eating around Melbourne because my group definitely did that even though it was not compulsory.

The coordination of this subject was soooo horrible. Canvas was a mess. The lecturers weren't engaging and the tutorials were pretty dry too. Apparently they just hire the same tutors each year (based on reviews) and they don't bother to actually hire anyone engaging. There is also a group presentation (if you want to avoid group work).

Pretty good subject. Nothing overly complicated about the context but it was a little challenging to figure out what the teachers wanted from the assignments. Met some cool people here as the tutorials are very relaxed and there's a lot of group assignments/discussion.

Avoid like the plague. Terrible tutors. Same ones every year. This subject ended in a group filing a misconduct allegation. They will not even look at your work before assigning a random mark to it. Enough said.

I enjoyed this subject and would recommend it. It’s two weeks long and only has two major assessments. The lecturers are passionate and the content is interesting.

fairly good subject! interesting, engaging - just make sure you don't leave your final essay to the last minute. Didn't quite get H1 but was my fault in bad time management
