Wouldn’t recommend for westerners who are truly learning Chinese as a second language! The vocab was not as relevant or usable, and I felt I was just struggling to pass and keep up with the tonne of others who obviously come from a Chinese background. The teacher caters to these Chinese background students, who pick Chinese as an easy subject. I completed Chinese 4 in first year, and that level was worth completing as there were other students still actually learning Chinese! However Chinese 5 was a big leap from that level, rather than the continuation which it should have been. I don’t think I will continue with my study of Chinese anymore.
