Reviews

Result- 65 H3. First six weeks from Biosciences were the bane of my existence. The final six weeks by MDHS were solid. You learn how to undertake an annotated bibliography & literature review, two crucial skills for future subjects. Workshops were okay. Both Charlotte Clark & Diana Stoijanovski were lovely though.

This subject was not too bad. The first 6 weeks were not really interesting, as it just covered basic biology concepts. However, I found the next 6 weeks more fascinating as we covered various biomedical science topics such as schizophrenia, gastroenteritis and thunderstorm asthma. The assessment tasks throughout the semester were not too difficult. The final exam was not bad either, however some questions were based on the content covered in workshops which was not covered in the lectures, so make sure you revise this. But overall, I highly enjoyed the second half of the subject.

Grade: 80. The first 6 weeks were abysmal. I mean it was nothing short of just brain numbing. Literally copy pasted Life's complexity lectures (respect to anyone who can actually manage 12 weeks of that in bsci). But after that, the content gets a lot more interesting and definitely more "med-based" with topics including fever, gastro, mitochondrial disease and a few more. The amount of content to go through was decent, nowhere near as much as Biol10002 if that's what you're wondering. Also, the final exam was honestly quite easy with the exam not really being based on the content but rather basic data analysis. Also, let me stress, go to the workshops. The exam contained a few concepts which were only done in the workshops and not mentioned in lectures. Overall, a decent subject with a H1 being very very doable (most students from what I know get low H1s)

Grade: 96. The first 6 weeks are really bad since it repeats Sem 1 biology but at a lower level. The last 6 weeks go into more applicable biomed topics and were more enjoyable. The workshops and all can be boring but they help with the exam. Assignments are tedious but I guess they teach you research skills.
