BIOM10001 was designed as an introduction to first year Biomedicine students. Lectures were okay. Assessment consisted of topic quizzes, reflective report submissions, a major group assignment & a final 1000 word reflection. It is a pass/fail subject. The group assignment & final reflection determine your overall result. I had an excellent group. However, I was pretty bored most times & slept in the workshops....

This subject was ok overall. It is a pass/fail subject so you don't need to put too much time and effort into it. It is not really related to biology, but it just gives you an overview to some of the broader social, cultural and environmental themes surrounding the biomedical sciences and health. The workshop facilitators were nice, however the workshops themselves were not that engaging.

Waste of time and money, but no hate for teaching staff. The content eases you into university, which would be fab... if I didn't have to pay for this. This is the kind of stuff you should be told in a presentation during orientation week. Staff were fine though; not their fault the subject is so drab. I passed but who doesn't??

Stopped going to lectures in Week 3 and managed to get through the class with pretty high marks (not that you need them as the subject is pass-fail) despite my reflections being about me not knowing why I was studying biomed, becoming a Communist (needed some creativity for the freedom of speech module) + how I bonded with my group mates because we all did not care about this subject. No content to learn, just turn up to your workshops and try your best to show some respect to the tutors 'cause they're probably hating the subject as much as you :)

All you need for this subject is good teammates, if you don't have good teammates, you are end up doing all the stuff alone just to get a “pass”.

This subject is a bad enough by itself. If you have a slack group, then be prepared to deal with hours of suffering on the group work. Would give zero stars if there was an option to

Excellent use of your time if your work-out session coincides with this class. Nothing on the profs and instructors tho, just a bruh course. Why this course does not count towards our WAM is also beyond me.
