Honestly would be rating this subject 5 stars if not for the lecturer. My tutor, Anthony Williams was wonderful, super fun and knowledgeable. The class dynamic was great and everyone was really supportive. Assignments were accessible and clear, and even the content was interesting. However the lecturer’s attitude left something to be desired, although this definitely could just be me. I get that he was probably well intentioned, but personally I found that a lot of the remarks he made about student work, our weekly quizzes or our assignments were often snide. He often came across as a bit smug and seemed to enjoy when people got things wrong? Maybe he thought he was being helpful, but a lot of the time his attitude or remarks just felt unnecessary. It can make you feel… not great, even when you’re trying your best. I would recommend this subject if you enjoy languages because I’ve been having fun in tutes! Just be prepared if Anthony Pym is still the lecturer.
