Human Neuroscience 201 is a crash course on neuroscience designed for Occupational Therapy students. With 3 one-hour lectures each week it covers a huge range of topics giving an overview of current neuroscience knowledge. This base knowledge about the brain and nervous system is then reviewed in relation to common disorders seen in Occupational Therapy to give an understanding of the actual processes behind the conditions of future clients. This subject has a lot of rote learning and the sheer amount of information can be overwhelming but the content is fascinating and well worth the effort. The best way to stay on top of the information load is to review your notes each week and ensure understanding of the concepts along the way. If you do not understand the foundation concepts it will be challenging to grasp the application later in the semester. This subject is also a wonderful foundation for the Advanced Occupational Therapy Practice and Neurological conditions course undertaken the following semester.
