Description

This subject builds from content learned throughout the previous two years and strives to equip students with the skills to recognise and make effective clinical decisions where individuals across the lifespan experience deterioration, including physical and behavioural changes. Students will develop clinical skills relevant to the management of people who are deteriorating. Students will be introduced to the findings of recent inquiries into health care systems and be familiar with ‘between the flags’, the concepts of rapid response, clinical leadership and the role of interdisciplinary health teams in caring for the deteriorating person. Students will explore the required skills to think, act and communicate quickly under pressure in a person-centred approach. Topics include: - Airway - Breathing - Circulation - Disability - Exposure - Fluids and Electrolytes - Glucose/GIT - Shock + CSA Prep
