Continuing Care

Description

Continuing Care focuses on the development of the role and clinical skills of the registered nurse when promoting, maintaining, and supporting a person with a chronic condition, disability, or who requires rehabilitation or palliative care. This subject enables students to draw on their previous learning and prepares nursing students with a developing level of experience to critically think and promote evidence-based practice within a simulated clinical environment. Students will build on their clinical and communication skills to ensure safe people-centred care, whilst recognising the importance of caring for people of different values, beliefs and cultures. Topics include: - Foundations of Continuing Care & Chronic Disease - Caring for Individuals Living with Chronic Respiratory Conditions - Caring for Individuals Living with Chronic Cardiovascular Conditions - Caring for Individuals Living with Neurological Conditions - Caring for Individuals Living with Chronic GIT or Genitourinary Conditions - Caring for Individuals Living with Chronic Endocrine & Metabolic Conditions - Caring for Individuals Living with Cancer, Frailty, and End-of-Life Needs - Caring for Individuals Living with Musculoskeletal Conditions - Caring for Individuals Living with a Disability
