Fantastic unit. The workshops were really useful and fun! Eric was fantastic! The assignment was super relevant to what was happening in the world at that moment. The videos on stat interpretation were really useful but there could have been more focus on this during the workshops. Some of the cases were a bit difficult to understand why they were important, but if you put in the hours it will all click together. I thought it was a well done unit. The textbook is really good too.

The first half of this unit is taught by the textbook exactly. I lost marks on the test not because I was factually inaccurate but because there was a correct answer per the textbook. This is in complete contradiction of what your other law lecturers will tell you re: there is usually more than one correct answer. As well as this, and as referenced in other reviews, there is limited teaching as to the statutory interpretation taught in the unit. It is a replica of LAW1111 except that all of the knowledge from LAW1111 is assumed and all they do regurgitate long slabs of case quotes that are almost irrelevant. Throughout all of this there is still a difficulty in deciphering what is factual in terms of discussion and the political bias of the lecturers entering the conversation in workshops. Some lecturers disclose their bias, some don't but it does become all too obvious. This ruined my experience of some of the discussions.

Although the content was not difficult to comprehend, the unit lacked continuity between the public law areas and the statutory interpretation content, with much overlap with LAW1111 and was often read verbatim from slides and the textbook. The workshop lecturers had different approaches to the final exam. Overall this unit required active participation and seeking out lecturers for questions to succeed.

Tests and exams are poorly structured and the classes are the same since it’s run through overcrowded seminars rather than tutes. All content is copied from lecturer written textbook

Easily the worst law unit I've ever done - incredibly boring and the midsem test had either super narrow or super broad questions, of which neither tested actual knowledge.

Subject is okay but my lecturer is drier than a celibate nun

I dont think the lecturers for the unit were particularly engaging. I found that the course material overlapped a lot with Constitutional Law and Foundations of Law.
