Well run unit. Keep up to date with the unit content and do practice questions each week and you will be fine. Not a huge fan of the lecturer (almost spends more lecture time talking about why students should be studying than actually teaching content) but the tutorials are very helpful and the content is straightforward enough to understand without a strong maths background (HSC General Maths). 7-8 Hours a week should net you a D/HD (dependent on your maths ability).

This introductory statistics unit is very straight forward, it is identical to the STAT1170 course (intro statistics) just without Excel. The course is usually run very well, as many students have to do this, my recommendation for doing this unit is to keep up to date with the lectures / tutorials and practicals. Unlike other units, each week builds on the previous weeks work, (week 4 you need to know week 3 work), so if you fall behind it can be a challenge to get back up to date. Do all the tutorial problems and practical exercises, even though they may seem mundane or boring, because even if they aren't tested a lot of the skills will be used in 2nd year subjects. The course isn't exceptionally hard, just keep up to date and ask questions if you need. [completed S1-2016]
