Average unit. This unit is not about elder law. It is 10 weeks dedicated to child law. There are two weeks on elder law but that is irrelevant as no assessments are based on it. The final 50% exam is a choose your own topic, and we only learnt child law up to that point, would be a waste of time learning about elder law then as it has nothing to do with assessments. That said, the assignments were good, not too difficult and weekly lecture content was interesting. The convenor is super dedicated to child law. Assessment content should have been better clarified, felt a bit all over the place by I’m sure that will improve in future sessions. Also convenor could be a tad harsh when answering questions - be cautious with your forum posts. So if you’re into child law and happy to deal with the learning curves of a new unit then you’ll like LAWS505.
