I do not recommend this as an elective AT ALL. I withdrew from this unit immediately after going to the first lecture given by Corrinne Franklin. I have never come across a more unprofessional lecturer in my five years at uni. Late students arriving just after 5 minutes past the hour were forbidden to sit down. Instead, she made them stand at the front for more than an hour, doing nothing. What was that supposed to be? What infuriated me the most was that she made the students (150 or more) stand up at the front and back of the lecture theatre in the second half of the lecture and expected us to ask her questions and her opinions. All the while she was the ONLY person sitting down in the lecture theatre. There was no point to this exercise at all. Why did she make all the students stand up while she just sat down? Absolutely disgraceful. And she said this was compulsory too. Well, I learnt absolutely nothing from her in the 85 minutes I was there. This stupid "ask me (the lecturer) questions" exercise was still going after 25 minutes, after which I collected my things. I thought this was absolutely pointless. She is the most unprofessional academic staff I have ever come across and I advise everyone to not do this subject.

I did ABST100 as my people unit in my first year, and to date it's still one of my favourite subjects. Really opened up my mind and the guest lecturers made for some great experiences.
