If you have no prior coding experience or exposure, this unit can be quite challenging due to the amount of content covered. The fortnightly coding practicals give you time to recover between topics; however, if you let them pile up or do them last-minute, you will stress yourself out, so do them early. It's important to read the lecture slides, attempt the practice practicals, and watch the videos provided by the Unit Coordinator, especially if you feel lost. I highly recommend attending UniPASS if it is offered for this unit. Read the unit outline, understand what you need to pass and plan accordingly. Practise the exam using past exam papers, find out what is tested, and practise it.

The unit content itself is not too challenging, but the course is very poorly designed. There is far too much content jammed into a 'fundamentals' course many students have to take against their best wishes. The marking is very dependent on the tutor you get in the labs, the tutor can be a difference between 70% and 90%

At first, it seemed daunting as lectures were content heavy. Easy practicals gave free marks. Assignment and Exam were easy if you studied and planned well.
