Reviews

This unit was such an amazing and unforgettable experience. My cohort went to Fiji, and the life-lessons that I took away from the trip was truly priceless. The quota is only 20-25 students, so it may be a bit challenging to get accepted (depending on your reason to go, work ethic, overall personality and awareness, etc.) but it is totally worth it. Most assessment marks go toward a final report (40%) post-fieldtrip and a 5 minute video (20%) we had to make during the trip, which can be somewhat challenging but are doable. The remaining marks go towards a pre-trip asssessment (15%) which was quite easy and fairly marked, and participation (25%) where half the marks come from your peers, and the other half come from the unit-coordinators. You do receive a $2000 grant if accepted to help with paying for flights/accomodation etc., but you will end up ~$500-$1000 out of pocket depending on the year and how many things you buy whilst over there. Don't let this monetary figure discourage you though, it is 100% worth the money to partake in a once-in-a-lifetime experience like this and I'm so happy I did. Peter and Dani were also amazing and supportive. Be prepared however, like I said the experience is eye-opening, in ways where you interact with hospitable and lovely Fijians, and other ways including sleeping on the floor 😂. Highly recommend.
