Really important unit! Troy is a great lecturer. Teaches the foundational concepts in inferential statistics which is expanded upon in 3301 and 3302. I wish I had invested more time so I could truly wrap my head around everything. A year later I still find myself going back to the lectures to understand better. Difficult and math-heavy unit, but necessary. I recommend practising questions and asking lots of questions to wrap your head around things. Relying on lectures alone is not enough to do well here. If you're pursuing honours/masters in psychology, you'll thank yourself later that you paid attention!

Unit sucks overall. The lecturer is pretty funny and engaging though tends to ramble off topic and skip over important steps in the formulas. The person who ran my lab was not helpful and acted like they didn't want to be there making it very hard to go over things. The lab report is a bit unorganised with limited information given. Ended up relying on YouTube to learn anything for this unit, would not recommend taking.

Best lecturer in psychological science so far. Has a good way to introduce students who just started in the major to statistics and lab reports.

this unit sucks, the content is just not exciting but it helpful information to have when reading and analysing other journal articles. Troy is good, tries hard to make it more interesting and is more than happy to help

The lecturer Troy is great he is funny, engaging and passionate about what he does. However the unit sucks majorly. I still don't understand why I need to know what a z-score is to be a psychologist but apparently I do. The statistics and maths is so hard and confusing :(((

did this unit because it was a core unit for criminology which was a bit frustrating because i explicitly went to uni to NOT do maths. past reviews have said it's easy but is actually quiet confusing if it's not your strongest point. personally, this unit should not be compulsory for crim students. however, troy is a funny guy, talks about his cat which is cute.

1 million likes to Troy (lecturer & unit coordinator)! He is able to explain statistical concepts in a very interesting and interactive way! Easy HD!

With the great lectures and helpful labs, the midterm, lab report, and multiple-choice exam were all quite straight-forward. I wasn't disadvantaged by not buying the recommended textbook.

Troy is an excellent lecturer! Keeps you engaged and explains stats in a great way

Troy is an excellent lecturer. Was really worried about stats but found he explained concepts really well. Take advantage of the practice questions available before the midterm and exam. There are no participation marks for the labs but would advise going as it helps with structuring the lab report. Exam is all multiple choice.
