Another great unit from the UWA politics department. For anyone interested in world affairs this unit answers so many questions - like many of the regionally based units in this faculty it is an excellent mix of history and the contemporary and the links between the two. The UN simulation on the Palestinian / Israel issue was a unique way to critically address the complexities of this issue. Professor Yasmeen is an invested and engaging lecturer and the 2 hour tutorials provided the opportunity for in depth discussions. The assessment tasks are demanding but worth it.

This unit is fascinating and really complements an understanding of the intense connectivity between nations and groups from here to the middle east and back. There is a Model United Nations assessment built into this unit which is really lacking in effectiveness. However the content is really interesting and engaging and I would recommend anyone from nay discipline trying this unit out!
