If you have done methods, spec and physics this unit will be breeze (except for the assignment which you have no control over and is worth 50%). I didn't watch a single lecture, I would just review the slides for about 10 minutes just paying attention to the theory which was the annoying part of the test but you could revise it all the day before the tests. Luckily because I did those ATAR subjects all the math was really easy I was able to get a HD (83) BUT WAS VERY CLOSE NOT TO BECAUSE OF 2 OF MY GROUP MEMBERS DOING ALL OF THEIR SECTIONS INCORRECTLY (sorry for the caps I was trying to portray how pissed I was about it). We initially got high 60s and I talked to the UC and she was nice enough to bump our score to the mid 70's. Do note the group part of the assignment is worth 30% and the individual part is worth 20% and both parts take longer than expected (we started ours a week before it was due) so as the other comment said make sure you go to the workshops in the first week or 2 and find GOOD group members who have the same aim as you (eg. getting a HD). The good thing about this unit is you do get 10% of it for free by doing weekly worksheets which are also excellent revision for the test just make sure you do complete enough of it as they do check if you did actually do 8/11 of the worksheets properly and if you did the ATAR subjects I stated earlier and did well in them you should easily get a HD assuming you don't get cooked in the assignment.

dont fall for the reddit trap! i did end up getting a HD (87!) but that was after spending so much time on this unit even though it was an elective. the content was interesting, applying math to crime (bullet trajectories, blood pattern analysis, probabilities) and the lectures were engaging and short, and i really like the lecturer as she explained the content well and was engaging even though she said she doesnt have a background in the forensic aspect of the unit. the forensic part of the unit was just a foundation for the math to be used, so id say its about 80% math and 20% forensics. however the 2 tests were mathy, difficult and worth 20% each - i scored barely a 70% in both (i have only done math applications in highschool). the real issue i have with this unit is the group project which is worth 30%. i did get above 90% on the project but that was after a whole week of stress, contemplating life, crashing out, ignoring my other 3 core units and grinding it out MYSELF. if you do choose this unit please please make sure you attend the first 2 weeks of practicals (they arent attendance marked) so they you meet the right people for the group project (otherwise the UC will choose randoms). my group members contributed not even 5% to the entire project which was super time consuming and got the same mark as me! i did bring up the issue with the UC and she said that it was a big issue for other group members too but there was no fix so i really hope they introduce a peer review aspect to it!
