Very hands-off teaching by the unit coordinator/lecturer. Virtually no guidance given for how to answer workshop/problem/discussion questions, and no discussion on the questions asked in workshop preparation so preparing answers was a complete waste of time and you were left in the dark. Workshops were also a waste of time aside from watching student presentations - essentially an hour of lecturer rambling about family law issues in general but not the unit content. Lecturer also worded material ambiguously, then gave passive aggressive and vague answers when asked to clarify. Myself and most other students felt very unprepared for the take-home exam, as only a vague structure was given on how to answer problem questions. Most useless and frustrating unit I've ever taken and has completely destroyed any interest I now have in pursuing family law.

Basically entirely self taught, lectures released were outdated and updates had lecture time stamps which were released after people already watched the original lectures. Lazy teaching with no guidance in workshops as it was all student led and basically marking the presentations for the lecturer. No clarification or guidance given on how to answer workshop questions

Lecturer reused pre-recorded lectures from two years ago with a word document full of updates since the content was now old and had had amendments, while simultaneously insisting that we buy the brand new edition of the textbook (that they also wrote). Lectures were also not at all engaging and difficult to follow. Did not teach us in workshops but instead had the students teach themselves and each other, and did not go through discussion questions with the class but left the students to complete the questions without any clarification on what the right answers/approach was. Worst unit I've ever taken. So disappointed as I was looking forward to this unit.
