The tutorials are not really tutorials. It involves watching first-year students fumble and give a shoddily put together presentation in the first half, with what is usually a massively irrelevant activity in the second half. What's even worse is, the tutors mark you extremely harshly. I am a straight HD student and expected at least a Distinction equivalent for both assignments - I did not even reach 75% for either. Perhaps if they had bothered to teach us in their tutorials, we would know what to do! When forking over so much money to study WORK1004, I don't expect to be tutored by first-year students who literally don't care, whilst the tutor sits back and drags our marks down. Some presentations were so bad and I could tell the students giving it did not care at all. It's unfair for us to pay so much to have this low quality of "tutoring". WORK1004 is basically set up for you to drag your WAM down. Also, 25% of students fail WORK1004 - coming from a straight HD student, I'm not sure if I can even pass given how harsh the tutors have marked me. Do not take this unit.

I've taken a few business school courses and haven't liked them so I might be biased. I just don't like the unpersonalized method of teaching, the pre-recorded lectures, and the fact that there's thousands of students so the lecturer feels so distant (and there are NO in person lectures "to make the online students feel equal"). This year they tested a new format where students teach each other via presentations throughout the whole semester, which to me seemed like a massive failure—the groups did not put in the energy to teach their content and in general it was very awkward. Half of the students don't speak English well enough to understand them as they're presenting, which isn't their fault at all but a bigger reflection on the low benchmark the uni sets to make money of us international students. In general, just disappointed with the business school (as I can compare it to the faculty of arts, which is soo much better). Guess I shouldn't be surprised that the business school acts like a business rather than an educational institution.

Daniel Dinale is an outstanding tutor. I have had this tutor along with a few other students over the years, and he has been one of the most supportive and amazing tutors we've had in a long time, if not ever! He has always shown dedication to not only the subject but the students in the class. I have NEVER known anyone to answer emails as quickly as he does. He is no nonsense and tells you things directly. He went out of his way to help me in the course when I was working at a pharmacy full-time during COVID. AMAZING!!!

Easy to understand if you're new to the corporate world but markers mark way too harshly.
