This unit is probably one of the best OLE units out there but should only be taken by students who have some experience using GIS. The unit will require you to come up with your own research topic which can be explored and analysed using GIS and you'll go through the whole process of using GIS for research including finding data (or obtaining your own data if needed), brainstorming and applying the appropriate GIS analysis methods, and preparing maps for a presentation on your findings which forms the assessment for this unit. The unit runs for five or six weeks and there's a compulsory weekly tutorial session where you get guidance from an academic and a tutor. This unit definitely throws you into the deep end (I almost unenrolled because of how challenging it was in the beginning) but the amount that you learn by the end of the unit makes it worth it. This OLE unit requires a huge amount of time commitment.
