Reviews
Another fairly standard finance subject covering the basic features, valuation and usage of derivative securities including options, futures, forwards and swaps. A reasonable bend of theory and practical application. While the topic area of derivatives is potentially extremely mathematically complicated, the focus in FINC6010 is on understanding how to apply formulas and you will not need derive things. As for FINC6014, this is a good subjects for students also taking or intending to take the CFA program as there is substantial overlap between this subject and Level I and Level II derivatives coverage in the CFA program. The difficulty level of FINC6010 falls between the difficulty of levels I and II of the CFA program. I took this subject in 2013, but the drop-down list only allowed me to select semesters from 2020-2023.
