Reviews

What a subject! I was so surprised by all the techniques use in the proofs and argument and feel like this subject has really helped with my mathematical maturity. I really would recommend this one.

This subject is not that hard as a third year subject. But the contents are quite interesting.

Lots and lots of counting.... some of the topics have probably too much time spent on them (the combinatorics stuff, which to be fair is the majority of the subject), but some things felt rushed, especially the Ramsey theory stuff. There is a good mixture of counting problems and some quite interesting proofs in tutes/assignments/exam. Lectures could be quite boring, lecturer a bit monotoned, often completely losing the attention of the audience, which is a shame as the content SHOULD be very interesting! He discussed some quite interesting connections to other fields such as statistics and physics, it's just a shame few listened... Overall I was disappointed, but I still enjoyed it, and would recommend it to anyone with an interest in combinatorics.
