Monash Science Tutor Arya
Hi there, my name is Arya, and I’m a first-year Doctor of Medicine (MD) student at Monash University! I’m an international student from Canada and completed a Bachelor of Medical Sciences before starting medicine. I have over 6 years of tutoring experience, and I’d love to help students who are in the position I was once in: anxious and unsure how to prepare for their MMI.
How I tutor
All my sessions are 1-on-1 and built around you. In our first session, we’ll work out where you’re at, what you’re finding hardest, and how much time you have before interview day. From there, I’ll put together a plan that covers everything you need without overwhelming you.
Practice interviews
Practice under realistic conditions is the best way to get comfortable with the MMI. In our sessions, you’ll do timed mock stations that mirror the real interview, including ethical scenarios, role-plays, personal and motivation questions, and healthcare discussions. As you get more confident, we can run full mock circuits so interview day feels familiar.
Detailed feedback
After every station, you’ll get honest, specific feedback on what worked, what didn’t, and exactly how to improve, not just “that was good.” I’ll pay attention to how you structure your answer and how deep your reasoning goes, as well as how you communicate: pacing, clarity and confidence. I’ll also help you track your progress across sessions so you can see yourself improving.
Structuring your answers
A big part of MMI success is having a clear way to approach any question, even one you’ve never seen before. I’ll teach you adaptable frameworks for each station type so you always know where to start, how to explore different perspectives, and how to finish with a well-reasoned conclusion. The goal is answers that sound natural and genuine, not rehearsed scripts.
Building your knowledge base
Interviewers expect you to have a solid grasp of key healthcare topics. We’ll cover the areas that come up most often, including:
Medical ethics (autonomy, beneficence, non-maleficence and justice) and how to apply them
The Australian healthcare system, including Medicare, the public/private split and access to care
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health and health equity
Rural and remote health
Current issues in healthcare and medicine
Reflecting on your own experiences and your motivation for medicine
Why Monash, and what makes its program and values distinct
I’ll also share the notes and resources I put together during my own preparation, so you have everything in one place.
Whether you’re just starting out or need help refining your answers before the big day, I’d love to help you feel calm, prepared and confident walking into your interview. Feel free to reach out if you have any questions!
