Monash Health Tutor Tia

TL:DR Dr Tia Cummins | PhD Clinical Neuroscientist & Lecturer | Offering 1:1 tutoring in Honours thesis design, advanced statistical methods, and core psychology/neuroscience units. About Me & What I Study I am a PhD-qualified Clinical Neuroscientist (University of Melbourne) and university lecturer/sessional academic teaching across psychology and neuroscience. While my own research background focused heavily on cognitive neuroscience, neurotrauma, and advanced psychological methods, I spend most of my academic week mentoring undergraduate and postgraduate students through coursework, lab reports, and research projects. My Teaching Style My sessions are highly interactive, engaging, and conversational—with plenty of humour to demystify complex concepts and keep stress levels down. Rather than just reciting facts, I focus on identifying your unique learning strengths, facilitating open discussion around the topic, and working through problems collaboratively. You’ll leave each session not just memorising the content, but actually understanding and applying it with confidence. How I Can Help You Core Subject Mastery: Breaking down complex neuroanatomy, biological psychology, cognitive frameworks, and developmental theories into clear, accessible pieces. Lab Reports & Scientific Writing: Structural review, clarity, and rubrics alignment to help elevate your grades from credit/distinction to high distinction (HD). Research Design & Stats: Making research methods, experimental logic, and statistical interpretation far less intimidating. Exam & Assessment Prep: Targeted sprint sessions to practice high-yield exam questions and sharpen critical evaluation skills. Location & Format 100% Online Appointments Only (via Zoom / Google Meet). I share digital whiteboards, screens, and annotated notes in real time, so you get all the benefits of high-touch 1:1 support without having to commute across campus.
