UWA Science Tutor Sam
Hi, I'm Sam, a current UWA medical student with a background in Neuroscience. I offer private tutoring for GAMSAT and medical school interviews. I am also employed by GradReady as a lead GAMSAT & MMI tutor.
Medical Interviews:
My approach is centred around teaching the foundations of how to structure your responses and communicate effectively, before moving on to practice, discussion and detailed feedback. Although frameworks are useful, I emphasise the importance of authentic, personable, and clear communication to help my students stand out and play to their strengths.
I can help you with:
- Developing flexible frameworks without making your answers sound rehearsed
- Talking through ethical and healthcare scenarios in a clear, balanced way
- Building stronger personal and motivation-based answers
- Practising rural health, Indigenous health and broader health-system issues
- Improving the clarity, structure and delivery of your responses
- Timed MMI practice and full mock interviews
- Identifying small changes that help give your interviewers a good impression
GAMSAT (Sections 1, 2 and 3 - biology content only)
My GAMSAT tutoring is focused less on teaching content and more on improving how you approach and break down questions.
I can help with:
- Breaking down difficult questions
- Developing a repeatable approach to Sections 1 and 3
- Working out how to manage time effectively
- Section 1 stem approaches and how to differentiate between potential answers
- Section 2 planning, idea development and feedback on written responses
- Identifying mistakes and turning them into strengths
- Building a realistic study plan around university, work or other commitments
Preparing strategically when you have a limited amount of time before the exam
First-time students receive their first 30-minute session at half price, so we can spend some time chatting about you, your experience, and what you are hoping to improve upon :)
About Me:
I graduated from UWA with a Bachelor of Science majoring in Neuroscience, with First Class Honours and a 7.0 GPA. During my undergraduate degree, I was awarded a Hackett Scholarship and a Harry Perkins Summer Research Scholarship. While completing my honours, I decided to study for the GAMSAT. and scored in the 90th percentile overall. After interviewing with UWA, I was offered a place in the 2025 intake of the UWA Medical School, along with an Eva K.A. Nelson Scholarship.
Besides that, I love to exercise and read!
Note: my private tutoring is independent of GradReady.
