Nigel
Nigel Lim is a practising solicitor in New South Wales, primarily practising in the areas of family law, equity and trusts, and criminal law. He has also had prosecution experience, previously working the the ODPP (NSW). He graduated with a Juris Doctor from UNSW with a strong academic record and also holds a Bachelor of Arts with Distinction from the University of Western Australia, double majoring in Criminology and Philosophy. During his studies at UNSW, Nigel achieved several notable academic accomplishments, including placing within the top 10% of the combined JD/LLB cohort in Business Associations (Corporations Law). He also undertook an exchange program at the University of California, Berkeley, where he received a Distinction for a legal research paper. Prior to entering private practice, Nigel worked at the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (NSW), where he gained experience in criminal procedure, court processes, and legal drafting. He also gained experience in employment and tenancy law through his work at a community legal centre. As a tutor, Nigel aims to help UNSW law students develop both strong legal reasoning skills and practical legal understanding. His tutoring focuses not only on academic performance, but also on helping students understand how legal principles operate in real-world practice. He is particularly able to assist students with subjects involving criminal law, equity and trusts, corporations law, legal reasoning, statutory interpretation, and litigation-related subjects. Nigel adopts a structured and approachable teaching style, with a focus on breaking down difficult legal concepts into clear and understandable explanations. He is also able to assist with assignment structure, problem question technique, exam preparation, legal writing, and developing effective study strategies for law school. Nigel is also able to converse in Mandarin, allowing him to assist Mandarin-speaking students where required.
