Have tutored for a year for introductory computing units. I've mainly helped students that are underperforming, coming from non-computing backgrounds to go from likely failing to comfortably passing or a distinction. I've found the first coding units to not come naturally to most and serve as a high initial hurdle for new IT students. It leads to a negative feedback loop of not understanding, failing and hating the units. If you're able to overcome that initial wall it can all flip and students often don't need additional tutoring for further units. First session free if you don't think we're a good fit. I'm studying a Bachelor of IT majoring in Software Technology but have chosen mainly Game Development electives. Only have a couple units I'm closing out before graduating this year. Switched from a Business degree which was not working for me and now finding much more success. My teaching style is to explain things top down, how any given topic in computer programming fits in the larger whole and is actually used in the context of larger projects and systems to achieve something. I can tutor online or in-person at Macquarie University, open to travelling to someone else's place as well.
