⚖️ LAW4170 Trusts Exam Pack (Weeks 4 to 11): Study Guide, Case Memory Hooks, Issue Spotting Checklist and Flow Chart
Subject notes for Monash LAW4170
Description
🧠 Trusts problem questions don't really test whether you know the cases. They test whether you can spot every issue in a long fact pattern and work through it in the right order. This pack is built for exactly that. 🎓 I made it for LAW4170 at Monash in S1 2026. It covers every examinable topic from Weeks 4 to 11, and non examinable content has been taken out so you don't waste time on it. 📦 What you get (one 46 page PDF) Contents, plus a short "how to use this pack" box 📘 Reading Guide Study Guide. Each topic is broken into short tick box checklists, with the key cases and statute sections underneath and a one line point for each case. It covers charitable trusts, all the trustee duties, accounts and disclosure, discretions (Karger), defences, indemnity, beneficiaries' rights, variation and remedies. 🖼️ Case Memory Hooks. There's a picture style memory hook for every case on the reading guide, sorted by week and topic. Example: Re Shaw is "George Bernard Shaw inventing a 40 letter alphabet and locking it in his desk drawer", because knowledge that is never shared is not advancement of education. It ends with a quick recall section for the night before. ✅ Issue Spotting Master Checklist (4 pages). You read the facts and match them to a trigger. Each trigger tells you the rule, section or case to use. It runs in exam order: valid trust, frame the trust, every duty, accounts, discretion, all three defences, indemnity, remedies. 🗺️ Issue Spotting Flow Chart. The same exam order as a one page visual, so you can see the whole answer path at a glance. 🙋 Good for you if: 😰 you freeze when you see a long fact pattern 🔍 you know the cases but keep missing issues 👀 you learn better from checklists and visuals than from long paragraphs ⏰ you want something you can actually revise from in the last week ✍️ Written in plain English, with no copied slides or textbook pages.
