Although most of the content is pretty easy to understand if you have completed Year 12 Psych, the assessments are difficult to manage. There is little relevance to the readings, and the instructions/expectations for the assessments are super vague and unhelpful. Also, there's little point in attending the tutorials and watching lectures apart from getting more information about assessments because the textbook readings sufficiently cover all of the assessable content.

Anonymous, Semester 1, 2021

The tasks were very unclear and reaching out seemed unhelpful as no one seemed to know what they were doing. I had never studied psych before and nor was it an expectation or prerequisite, though it seemed as if it should have been considering how disorganised the unit was.

Didn’t attend tutorials and still got by. Not hard if you did VCE psych.

Anonymous, Semester 1, 2021

Not amazing, but not terrible either. Tutorials and tutors are absolutely useless. Did the absolute minimum and still got a D as the content is very simple, especially if you've done VCE psych already. Assessments were annoying to do due to the unclear expectations and feedback. Btw, the textbook is also useless - did not read a single page and still managed to do above average.

Interesting content. Assessments are easy to pass however you need to utilise you tutor. It's a good idea to set up a study group since there is so much content to learn for the exam. Also get used to SPSS if you are planning continuing with psych!

This unit when I did it was quite poorly structured. Tutorials were often not really relevant to the lecture. All the information you need for the exam was from the textbook anyway. Quite content heavy.

Anonymous, Semester 1, 2018

Loved it, so interesting and engaging, and assessments were quite straightforward

Anonymous, Semester 2, 2017

Interesting content and overall unit limited by pitiful study resources (correct past quiz answers are hidden, no summary lectures/ small 20 question revision quiz). A word of caution for those who don't learn well from textbook readings.

Anonymous, Semester 2, 2016

2 hour workshops are pointless, the assignments are really silly. Asking first years to do a literature review without extensively teaching us how to write one properly isn't fair at all.
