Reviews

This unit has simple content but the group assignment was marked for every group much more harshly than any other Law assignment I have ever done. The exam was also much more complicated than any of the tutorial questions. To do well in the exam, you need an exceptional understanding of the cases and international con law, good faith etc. despite them being taught in very little detail.

pretty good subject, group assignment sucks but other than that well run and easy to follow!

This unit can be a bit confusing at first, but gets easier as you learn all the different elements. If you get a good group then the group assignment is actually bearable.

Don't let yourself be put off by the number of topics in this unit and how none of them seem to make any sense - this is the biggest difficulty my students seem to face and the reason is because Contract A is quite counter-intuitive. All these elements must be present, but they occur contemporaneously and so trying to analyse them one by one is artificial and awkward. This is also perhaps the most important subject to read the cases because of the focus on a case question and the importance of distinguishing between seemingly conflicting points of law. That being said, if you let yourself get immersed in the unit then it can actually be quite interesting - and if you end up hating it then don't worry, Contracts B is much more fun!
