Reviews

Where to begin? This unit is horribly structured and ranks as one of the worst units i've taken in my life. Lecture slides don't cover all the content required about ASP.NET Framework and worst of all the lab sessions (the useless tutors who simply tell you to google if you are unsure about something) are pointless exercises as tutors expect you to do your own research to fill in the missing gaps of knowledge that the lecture notes don't cover and use it as part of your exam revision (I could just simply study on udemy if thats the case). While the lecturer Russel was quite nice and approachable, his preparation for each week's material is chaotic (he will typically release the lab and lecture notes quite late on monday or tuesday for that particular week so we can't read ahead). Additionally, the in-semester assessment contains a single assignment whereby you are required to develop a working web application is worth 40% and honestly this was one of the most stressful experiences in my life as ASP.NET MVC frame is unnecessarily convoluted and difficult to debug and troubleshoot. Furthermore, the exam unreasonably expects you to memorize all the ASP.NET code and concepts, and no solution is provided or any mention about how marks are allocated (As the exam is 140 marks and each question is worth 7 marks)
