A very engaging and interesting unit, and quite easy to do well. MARTINESSAYSERVICES(AT)G-MAIL (DOT)COM

Less structured than ATS1281 (first sem Criminology) however much of the knowledge is similar to Legal Studies which for those who have taken it, eases the bouncing around a little bit. Overall not a bad unit to take, still quite interesting in terms of being an eye opener to limitations of the criminal justice system.

As a mid year mature age student, this subject was engaging and I was able to draw on adult experiences and place them into context. You don't need to do the Semester 1 Understanding Crime unit to do this.unit. It is easy to get great marks with a little effort and seeking good essay writing help which is a must in all units anyway. Looking at other students, you get out of it what you put into it. And there was a lot of wasted time word perfect laptop typing what the lecturer said. I suggest dumping the dictation and doing some real engaged listening and home study with a pad and pen. The education research in student learning proves this as well.

Having done the semester 1 subject for this unit, ATS1282 is a lot less organised in comparison. If you are not keeping up with the readings or participating in tutes actively, it can be very easy to get lost in what is going on. The lecturers for 2015 were also not very engaging, making the two hour weekly lectures very difficult to sit through. That being said, if some work is put into the subject and the boring lecturers are overlooked, it is not difficult to score well in this subject.
