Reviews

The content is incredibly interesting although the course is squished into 13 weeks when it needs a lots more time. So prepare yourself for content heavy lectures and readings. Loved it though!

Although there are several theories to learn it is an enjoyable subject once you understand the content .

Great unit with very interesting theories. Suitable for students studying psychology and education.

Memorising the different developmental stages could bored you to tears. However, applying the theories and understanding how a child grows up makes the subject interesting.

An interesting subject. Lecture content is quite extensive, but final exam is multiple choice. I recommend typing the notes from the slides, and then listening to the lectures at 2.5 times the speed at least because most of it is read from the slides, and you probably want to stay awake. Start early on the literature review, and don't forget about APA - they will give you a guide on how to satisfy the APA requirements, but they leave out everything you should remember from PSYC104/105 (but don't remember because you repressed that) e.g. title, indenting first paragraph. The final lecture on death and dying can strike a nerve if you've recently lost someone, so maybe do that one online, and skip the videos (unless they say it's assessable). It's an okay subject to do for summer school, but allow at least a solid 30 hours of work on the literature review, and don't leave it till the week before (especially if you are doing two subjects) because you will stress cry (especially if you're also doing Design and Stats II - I still have the nightmares).
